gone with the wind,displays a pretty woman chasing true love,describes a cruel war and depicts a subtle friendship. in the story,selflessness of scarlett,avarice of butler,goodness of melanie and recreance of ashley appears before our eyes. not only gone with the wind is a novel,but an encyclopedia about characters. it is worth mentioning that scarlett leaves me the deepest impression in this book. “gone with the wind”is a book full of love and courage ,i just can’t help but repeat the brilliant words that scarlett says---tomorrow is another day ！promising forever,full of fighting will ,never give up,never desperate. i think i'm moved by her. so,whenever i meet difficulty,i will tell myself : " tomorrow is another day. "

as readers,in my opinion,we don’t browse it,but peruse mind of it and apperceive it. to learn the spirit of the books deliver is what we should do after perusing it.

old man and the sea is one of hemingway s most enduring works and may very well become one of the true classics of this generation. it played a great part in his winning the pulizer prize in 1953 and the 1954 novel prize for literature and confirmed his power and presence in the literary world. hemingway is also one of my favorite writers. besides the old man and the sea,i have read some of his other works,such as the sun also rises,a farewell to arms and the snow of kilimanijaro. but the old man and the sea is the one that left the deepest impression on me.

i first read this book when i was in my fifteens. and now i remember it just as well as if i had read it yesterday.

in this novel,the mainline seems to be around the letter a. hester is brave enough to face the cruel reality. she is always with a mind of courage. she has been alone with her child for so long ,with litter communication. shame! hopelessness! loneliness! hester has to wear the letter a day after day,seven years as for punishment and ill fame.

when a woman has lived through a difficult experience,her character changes a great deal. if she be all tenderness,she will die. if she survive,the tenderness will leave her .hester’s charitable deeds and quiet humility have earned her a reprieve from the scorn of the community. the letter on her chest represents her work on earth ,always helping others,without expecting any thanks. never afterwards,does that scarlet letter leave her chest. the townspeople no longer view the letter as a punishment ,but rather as representing her great strength and bravery and thy say it means “able”.

but arthur dimmesdale,his sin against hester and pearl is that he will not acknowledge them as his wife and daughter in the daylight. he keeps his dreadful secret from all those under his care in the church for seven years for fear that he will lose their love and will not be forgiven. he is too weak to admit his sins. he suffers from mysterious heart trouble,seemingly caused by psychological distress. what’s worse,he is an advisor to the townspeople about their sins.

after mr. dimmesdale’s death ,no one changes more in appearance than roger chilling worth. all his strength and energy has been used to harm his patient . this unhappy man has made his aim in life to add to the suffering of the young minister. when the evil old man no longer has such a purpose,the devil takes him back to the hell . it is a curious subject of observation,however,whether hatred or love are not of the same place. each takes a great deal of emotion from one person. the two feelings seem basically the same,expect that one is smiled upon by god,while the other is worshipped by the devil.

but for the character of hao sijia,my other feeling was contradictory,and it was a nuisance but i had to admire her. she is a very personality of the characters,the two men love her lifetime,but she did not know one. if she knew ashley,that she would not love him;if she understood rhett,she would not lose him. she had been longing,she just kept pursuing his dream of the prince - ashley. she is his love of the characteristics that ashley,she just made a gorgeous clothes,so ainslie,and then fell in love with him. and the fact is,she loves that dress.

rhett is a complex person,he has a good family,but still the old age and the misfits,he has sharp eyes,can find their own way to live in troubled times,he has a passion for the country,even if he knows will be lost,but at the last moment into the army. he loved scarlett,but he knew more about hao sijia,so he never said,only through action,and hao sijia never wanted to know him. finally,he was hopeless,and again and again he had no courage to try again,and he was tired.
